Women get an unfair stereotype. We’re supposed to be sweet, attractive and dream about commitment and big, white wedding ceremonies while guys get to have all the fun sleeping around in their bachelor pads, spreading pick-up lines around the bar scene until they score. Commitments are the last thing on men’s minds.

But times have changed, and not every woman fits that old-fashioned stereotype. So why can’t women do the same things the boys can? Is it the threat of being called a whore? Please, ladies. If men can do it, women sure as hell can do it, too.

Chasing tail is much easier when you’re a woman, anyway; guys are normally the aggressor, and it’s hot when women take the pressure off and do the work themselves. Women just need to tweak the rules of the game a bit. Here’s a guide on how a woman should handle a one-night stand:

• DO clean up your place a little bit before you head out on the town, just in case. If you score tonight, you could be doing it on the kitchen table, the counter, the bathroom floor, the bathtub....you get the point.

• DO go to the bar with friends who are less attractive than you. This will affirm that when you make a move, he’ll want to keep talking to you to get in your pants, not to devise a plan to get in your friend’s pants. Unless he’s got major beer goggles, which leads us to the next point…

• DON’T go for dudes that are absolutely hammered. He might be a hottie, but when he’s obnoxiously yelling out Anchorman quotes with his buddies at the bar and having a bit of a problem standing on his own, you might want to steer clear. Sure, it would be easy to get him to go home with you, but that’s where it could unravel due to his alcohol intake. Unless you’d rather baby-sit a dude too drunk to get you off, let alone see straight, don’t target a guy who is completely wasted.

• DON’T get too drunk yourself. Getting drunk often means stupid things are said and done, and not every guy wants to go home with the girl with cranberry-vodka spilled on her and singing along with “Since U Been Gone.” Plus, beer goggles can have very hazardous results once they come off the morning after. By all means, drink a little liquid courage, just don’t go overboard.

• DO remember to smile and be confident when you approach your sexual target. Guys like it when they don’t have to do any work to pick up a girl. There are really no rules when it comes to starting a conversation with the guy either. Compliments always work (“has anyone told you you’ve got rock star hair?”). Approaching bigger groups of guys can be intimidating, but here’s an “in” that usually works: listen in on the group’s conversation while you’re at the bar ordering a drink. Interject with an opposing opinion and start a flirty debate. Note: this won’t work when talking politics or religion.

• DON’T look for common ground in your conversation. That’s optional. Find out some key information pertaining to tonight and the next morning. Does he have to work the next morning? Does he have enough money to take the subway or a cab home? Don’t ask if he has a girlfriend. If he’s interested in going home with you, he’ll probably lie if he has one anyway.

• DO give lots of physical compliments as last call nears. It’s a known fact that guys do not pick up on hints. But when you tell a guy, “You’ve got a great ass,” and give him a wink, or say “Muscles are such a turn-on” while squeezing his bicep and batting your eyelashes, those hints are not so subtle. When it finally is last call or he says his boys are about to bounce, make the move. Tell him you’re going back to your place and he’s welcome to join you. If he’s hooked on you, he’ll be bailing on his friends and hailing you both a cab in no time.

Once you’ve secured the guy, you both have to come to a consensus about where you can get to know each other horizontally. Our suggestion is to make it your place—it’s territory you know, and since you’re in charge on your turf, you’re more likely to get what you want.

Once inside, you can start phase two however you want. Depending on the situation and how well you two, uh, click, you can either pour more alcohol to lighten the awkward factor or get right down to business against the wall in the entryway, on the kitchen counter, on the bathroom floor (aren’t you glad you cleaned up?), you get the picture. But before penetration happens....

• DO use condoms. Whatever the excuse is—he doesn’t like how they feel, it’s a hassle to put one on—there should be no excuses when it comes to protecting yourself. Not to be a Debbie Downer, but you shouldn’t be reminded of your hot night of steamy sex when you pee and it burns. Some STDs are deadly, and some have no symptoms at all. Have sex with condoms. It’s a win-win situation.

• DO focus on getting yourself off first and foremost. That’s why you brought him home, right? So he could please you? Remember, you’re on your turf so you’re in charge. Show him how to make you happy, and if he’s being selfish, force yourself on top so he has no choice. If you actually had common ground with the guy and you think regular sex with him might work, please him, too. But the only person that really matters in the morning is you.

• DON’T be afraid to let loose. Use your belts and scarves to tie him to your headboard and blindfold him. Put that whipped cream to good use. Do it in front of mirrors. If the idea of getting freaky scares you, remember that you’ll never see him again, but he’ll always remember you.

• DON’T let him stay over; kick him out before he falls asleep. You don’t want him hanging around the next morning. He’ll eat your food, drink your coffee, hang out on your computer and watch your TV. Tell him you have to work, catch an early flight, or go feed your friend’s dog because you went out and picked him up instead. However, if you want to pursue regular sex with him, kick him out first thing in the morning. But if not, do you want to share your bed with a guy hogging the sheets who you’re not going to see again?

Finally, don’t worry about others who call you a whore for having a night of no-strings-attached sex by your rules. Those people obviously need to get laid.

I Am, 10 Years from Now…

I’ve been blessed with everything. I always say my thanks’ for the wonderful things that happens to me. I don’t want to elaborate anymore mistakes and regrets I have done from the past. All I really want to think and do right now is to look forward what I will become 10 years from now. It’s not easy to guess, because come to think of it, not all of your hopes and dreams do come true. I can say that a perfect life and a contented heart is a pure fiction. Anyway, dreams are always free, so be it, I will be picturing myself a successful one, 10 years from now.

Maybe by that time I’m a struggling businessman or an obedient employee to a big company that deals with computer. But to my opinion and by the looks of the path I am going through, I think I will become a manager of a certain fast-food chain because everybody that are close to me or within my community is telling me that.

As far as I am concerned, I really don’t want to leave the country, I want to work here and live my life to the fullest. But my brother and sisters wanted that much to go abroad for a better living so I guess I need to follow them not because I want to but because I want to be with them. But I will suggest choosing a tropical country like the Philippines for a better climate.

By now, all I want to do is to work hard to achieve a better life 10 years from now. It’s okay for me not to achieve a fictional perfect life. A better and simple living, a complete family, and most of all, I am really hoping to find a contented heart that is enough for me to conquer the everyday trials life will give to me.

Marimar has topped urban Philippines ratings for Primetime Weekday Programs for February 2008 with 36.9%.

The two-hour finale of MariMar on March 14, 2008 generated a whooping 52.6% rating to break its own record of 49.5% last November 16, 2007. More importantly, MariMar's 52.6% beat the 52.1% rating posted by Darna on April 14, 2005

In non-cable households, Marimar's final episode posted an even higher rating of 57.5 percent.

Evo (Richard Gutierrez) and Grace (Marian Rivera) meet at a stag party and it's hate at first sight. “Parang naisip noong character ko talaga na I’ll never fall in love with that type of girl. Yung character naman ni [Marian] feels the same way," says Richard. While Evo is a spoiled, arrogant kid who doesn’t know what to do in life, Grace is a hard working student who finds joy in things despite her circumstances.

The movie ads for My Best Friend’s Girlfriend show Marian popping out of a giant cake – a scene from the film’s stag party. According to GMA Films president Ms. Annette Gozon, this was actually the image that sparked the idea for the plot. “Pinag-usapan lang namin na parang ang sarap panoorin na lumalabas si Marian sa cake. So [from that] picture, bumuo na kami ng kwento around it," she says.

“Actually, sumayaw ako doon [sa stag party], mapapanood nila sa movie," says Marian. “Nagulat ako – ha? Stag party? Ano suot ko doon? Akala ko syempre pag ganoon, medyo daring! Pero hindi. Alaga naman nila ako doon. Alam nila na kahit papaano, conservative pa rin dating ko."

Grace isn’t really a sexy dancer, however. She was just forced to accept that job out of need. “Grace needed some money for an emergency that’s why she took the job and danced. Maraming mangyayari sa stag party na yun na magiging memorable for both the characters," says Richard.

Marian explains, “Noong nagkasakit [kasi] yung nanay ko, parang ako na bumuhay sa kanila, tapos may kapatid akong special child. So ako laging inaasahan sa bahay." She admits that Grace’s personality is not far from her own, especially when it comes to being kalog. “Kaya ang ganda niya, ang sarap niyang i-shoot talaga!"

In the story, Evo and Grace start off as mortal enemies but when Evo uses Grace to make his girlfriend (Ehra Madrigal) jealous, things start getting complicated. “Nakilala namin yung isa’t-isa, and nagkaroon ng deeper connection," says Richard.

A first-time team up

Will the Filipino audience accept this new team-up?

Without missing a beat, Marian replies, “Matatanggap siya kasi Richard Gutierrez – sino ba namang hindi tatanggap kay Richard, di ba? Tapos sa MariMar naman, alam kong marami ring nagmamahal sa akin. Kung ano yung pagmamahal na ginagawa nila sa akin, alam ko ganoon din kay Richard, so sana bigyan nila kami ng chance na iba naman [ang makasama]."

When asked to describe her new leading man, she glances in his direction and says with a smile, “Perfect." She imparts, “Alam mo, si Chard kasi, hindi pa ako [si] MariMar noon, pinapansin na niya ako, so hindi niya ako pinansin dahil naging MariMar ako. Pinansin niya ako kahit noong dati ko pa. Ang gwapo na, mabait pa, maalaga pa! Perfect para sa akin!"

But Marian isn’t the only one who seems smitten! “Sweet" is how Richard describes his leading lady. “Masarap siyang katrabaho, she’s fun, and [there’s] never a dull moment with her, not only with me, but with everyone. Talagang enjoy ako pag kasama ko siya."

Direk Mark Reyes attests to Richard and Marian’s great onscreen and off screen chemistry: “Bibistuhin ko sila!" he says with a laugh. “Malambing [sila] sa isa’t-isa, tapos ‘board of censors’ si Marian sa mga phone calls ni Richard! Pag hindi sila nagte-take, siya may hawak ng cell phone ni Richard. Si Ricardo [naman], walang magawa dahil sinasapak siya ni Marian! Lambing-brutal yung dalawa, e!"

He adds, “Tapos nagkasundo ang dalawa sa pagkain! Pag may gusto si Marian, automatic, papabili ni Richard, maski saan kami."

“Noong una, nagkakailangan [sila]; nakita ko yun, e. Pero it was easy, it was fast. Throughout shooting, na-develop yung rapport nila."

Even Ms. Annette Gozon agrees! “Hay naku! Ang dami-dami nilang kulitan! Mas nakakatawa nga sila off-cam e! Kunwari, hahawakan ni Richard si Marian, ‘Ayoko nga! Wag mo akong hawakan!’ Pero pag alis ni Richard, kinikilig naman!"

She continues, “Para sa akin, bagay na bagay sila, kasi noong pinanood namin sa big screen yung footages, para ngang magkamukha sila, e! They look good together, and pareho naman yata silang single, so malay mo kung anong mangyari sa kanila!"

What to look forward to

“Si Richard sa pelikulang ito ay isang kissing bandit with Ehra and Marian!" shares direk Mark. “So if kissing scenes hinahanap niyo, marami sa pelikulang ito!"

Aside from sweet moments between Richard and his “women," Marian says that her favorite parts include the one in the movie theater where she makes a scene, and the stag party sequence where she punches Richard!

“Nakakatawa yung pelikula," says Richard. “Mage-enjoy kayo kasi ang daming mga nakakatawang moments kaming dalawa ni Marian. And hindi namin naisip talaga na magiging ganoon yung rapport namin."

The pilot episode of the Marimar remake on August 13 rated highly with more than 36.6% in Mega Manila which GMA Network wants to sustain until the series ends January 2008. On September 13, 2007, Marimar registered a 39.3% rating overcoming the pilot rating (after it equaled its inaugural rating of 38.3%) and lately this October 5, it gained a staggering 40% - overcoming its September 13 episode's rating 39.3%. And once again, last October 16, 2007, it registered 44.6% of overall Mega Manila Viewership Rating, beating its previous record (40%) last October 5 by 46%. Last October 23, 2007, it once again made history by registering 47.9% of overall Mega Manila Viewership Rating, even surpassing 46.5%, the highest rating registered in the Philippines by the first Marimar of Thalia about eleven years ago.

Jennylyn Mercado returns to primetime TV with GMA's 'La Vendetta'

La Vendetta (lit. Blood Feud) is an upcoming Philippine drama that will soon air on GMA Network. It will be directed by director Gil Tejada, Jr., after the top-rating Mga Mata ni Anghelita and Lore Reyes.

The series is from the creation of RJ Nuevas who wrote the top-rating Philippine dramas Impostora and Bakekang. It begins airing on October 29.

The production started late September, while filming started on October 12 for a October 29 airing - incredibly short for a primetime series. But, in fact, the production was concieved long before 2005, and had to be postponed because of the "boom" of telefantasyas.

This series is the much-awaited come-back series for Jennylyn Mercado after the feud between her manager and GMA Network. This is also Sunshine Dizon's new series after the recently concluded Impostora.

In addition, this is also the come-back Philippine drama for veteran actors Rustom Padilla and Snooky Serna after their recent showbiz revelations.

Any woman reading this article may find it puzzling that so many men are concerned about the length of their penis and wish they had 'just a couple of inches more'. But that's the way that a lot of men are.

Size matters

To the average man, his penis is, consciously or unconsciously, one of the most important things in the whole world. At an early age he discovers it and immediately becomes fascinated by it.

But then a note of uncertainty enters his mind: 'Isn't mine rather small?' Look at Dad's, look at big brother's, look at those in the men's changing room - and he asks himself if he will be as big as that.

And so he goes on through life, always a tiny bit sensitive about the size of his organ, always convinced that it would be nicer if it were just that little bit longer.

No matter how often it's written that penile size doesn't matter, and that women aren't attracted to a man because of the length of his organ, the average male continues to think the same way.

The average female cannot understand this obsession with penile measurement. So if you're a woman, never belittle a man's penis in bed, even as a joke, or say anything to indicate that you think it's small. The guy may take you seriously, and if he does, he'll be deeply hurt.

We have known men who have gone on to have problems with impotence (erectile dysfunction) after someone made an unthinking remark about their dimensions. But almost all of these men had a perfectly normal male organ. Each one just thought he was very small compared with other men.

A question of perspective

The trouble is that every man sees his own penis in a foreshortened view. The angle at which you look down inevitably makes your penis seem shorter than it is.

But when you glance at another man's organ, there's no such foreshortening effect, so very often it'll look as though the other guy is slightly better endowed.

A lifetime of comparison of this sort (and virtually every male does a quick mental check on each naked man he sees) can easily make you feel a bit inadequate. But it's important to realise the facts about penis length.

Average penis length

A non-erect penis usually measures between 8.5cm and 10.5cm (3-4 inches) from tip to base.

The average figure is about 9.5cm (3.75 inches), but this kind of precise measurement is rather valueless. Many factors can cause a temporary shrinkage of two inches or more, for instance cold weather or going swimming, so you needn't worry if you happen to fall short of the average figure.

Of course, it's true that some men have big penises and some have smaller ones, just as some men have small feet and some have big feet, but the measurement is not - repeat not - an index of virility.

Most people think that a tall man will usually have a large penis, but this is not true. The distinguished American researchers Masters and Johnson measured the penile lengths of more than 300 men.

* The largest organ was 14 cm (5.5 inches) in the flaccid state. It belonged to a slim man who was 5' 7" tall (170 cm).

* The smallest penis measured 6cm (2.25 inches). It belonged to a fairly heavily built man of 5' 11" (180cm).

It's also worth pointing out that there is no correlation between penile size and race.

Average size of erections

We've talked about the length of the penis in its ordinary non-erect state, but how long should it be when it's erect?

Interestingly, most penises are very much the same size when erect.

* The man whose non-erect penis is smallish will usually achieve about a 100 per cent increase in length during sexual excitement.

* The man whose non-erect penis is on the largish size will probably manage about a 75 per cent increase.

* This means the great majority of penises measure between 15cm and 18cm (6-7 inches) when erect, with the average figure being about 16.5cm (6.5 inches).

So you can see that even if a man has got a 'small' penis, he's got a built-in compensating factor that will bring him up to about the same size as the guy who appears to be 'better equipped' in the shower room.

Sex and women

Virtually every man forgets that it doesn't matter how long or how short your penis is, because the vagina will accommodate itself to any length.

* The vagina of a woman who hasn't had a child is only 7.5cm (3 inches) long when she's not sexually excited. The figures for women who have had babies are only slightly different.

* Even when aroused, a woman's vagina usually extends only to a length of about 10cm (4 inches).

This means any man's penis will fill her vagina completely, unless you happen to be one of those rare guys with an erect penile length of less than four inches.

You're probably now wondering how the average man with an erection of six inches manages to insert his penis into the vagina at all.

The vagina has the most remarkable capacity for lengthening if something is introduced into it gradually.

So the exceptional man whose erect penis is eight inches long can still make love to any woman, providing he excites her properly and introduces his organ very slowly. If he does this, her vagina will lengthen by 150 or 200 per cent to accommodate him.

What if I'm not happy about my penis size?

If you're really worried that your penis is the wrong size, go and see your doctor.

If you're not happy about consulting your GP on such an intimate matter, you could see one of the medics who spend their entire day checking men's penises. You can find these doctors at:

* private 'well-man' clinics, but take care: a few of these are run by quacks

* NHS urology clinics

* NHS sexual medicine clinics

* NHS genitourinary medicine (GUM) clinics

* NHS family planning clinics, although these tend to be oriented towards women and don’t have much time to deal with males.

* Brook advisory clinics (for the under 25s).

What treatments are there to increase penis size?

Many companies claim they know how to enlarge your penis - for a price.

We have been to several medical conferences this year at which leading experts have spoken about penis size and penis enlargement.

Their opinions on the various methods that are so widely advertised to the public can be summed up as follows.

* Pills or patches for increasing penis size: a complete waste of time.

* Penile enlargement surgery: of uncertain value and sometimes dangerous.

* Penile enlargement exercises: probably pretty futile.

* Penile suction devices: probably of little use.

Several European experts say that the relatively new stretcher or extender devices may sometimes be of value in giving a man a little extra length.

Surgery to increase penis size

A number of private clinics now offer operations that claim to make the penis look bigger. The expense of this type of surgery is very great and there is a risk of complications like bleeding, infection or deformity.

One surgical procedure that has become popular since 2005 is slicing through the ligament that supports the penis.

This makes the penis dangle more, so it looks longer when not erect. But it will make no difference to the size of your erection - and it won’t come up as high as it used to before the op.

Another type of surgery involves injecting your own fat into your penis to make it more bulky. This may not work, and it can lead to complications.

We recommend that you do not agree to undergo any surgery unless you have seen an NHS consultant urologist who feels that you really need it.

Penis stretchers (extenders)

Some urologists are beginning to use a special extending frame to try to stretch the penis.

These ‘stretchers’ are small rectangular frames that you wear on your penis for hours at a time, every day. They pull your organ out to its maximum length, and the idea is that it will gradually remain longer.

The devices are said to be undetectable under trousers.

There have been several reports from Italy and Spain by surgeons who claim a modest degree of improvement in length from this kind of traction.

We don't think these devices are some sort of miracle discovery, but one surgeon reported that a group of men achieved an average increase in length of 1.8cm after using the device daily for four months. This is less than three-quarters of an inch, but for some men this would be significant.

Stretchers cost between £150 and £200.

What treatments are there to reduce penis size?

Occasionally, a man with a big penis feels that he wants it reduced in size. This can be done, but there is quite a risk that the operation might go wrong.

Again, we advise you not to have this operation unless an NHS consultant urologist has said it is necessary."

In 1995, Camille Prats catapulted into fame when she starred in the movie Sarah, Ang Munting Prinsesa, a Philippine adaptation of the Frances Hodgson Burnett children’s novel A Little Princess and the anime Princess Sarah.

As Camille Prats grew up, she appeared in sitcoms and teen-oriented dramas. But in 2006, she decided to shed her “Princess Sarah” image by posing for the Philippine edition of FHM Magazine.[1]

Camille Prats is currently seen in GMA Network television programs such as the weekly variety show SOP Gigsters, the telefantasya Captain Barbell and the sitcom Ganda ng Lola Ko (aired by Quality TeleVision, a subsidiary of GMA Network). Cindy is the daughter of divorced couple Faustina Verdillo and Friedrich Kurleto. She stands 5′7″. She was taken care of by her mother in Austria where she grew up. Cindy finished her education from elementary to college and took a Hotel and Restaurant Management course there. She later became a waitress. In 2001, she eventually got bored with her job. At that point she decided to take a vacation in her other home country, the Philippines. She sold her car and apartment, quit her job, bought a ticket, packed one suitcase and left for the Philippines. Long after arriving, she decided to settle there for good. In the October 14, 2004 episode of TV drama series Magpakailanman of GMA Network, which featured her life story, viewers learned more about Jennylyn's childhood.
In May 4, 1991, when she was nearly four years old, Jennylyn made headlines as a battered child.

Her assailant was her stepfather. He burned Jennylyn's young's skin with cigarette butts and whacked her back with a flat iron. Her mother, who was then in Dubai working as a domestic helper, immediately came home. Sadly, though, she came not to take care of her daughter but to bail out her cruel partner, who was in detention.

Her mother migrated to London and had her own family. Because of this, Jennylyn's aunt, Lydia Mercado, legally adopted her.

In June 2004, Jennylyn's biological father, Noli Pineda, now 50 came home for a holiday. His arrival did not go unnoticed by the press. Reports came out saying that he was asking for money from his now self-sufficient daughter. This, Jennylyn strongly denied. What her father wanted, she said, was for Jennylyn to use his surname.

Still, according to Jen, she and her biological father keep in touch, even if they don't get to see each other often, since he's based in Korea.

Because of her experience as an abused child, she is now the Official Spokesperson of the Bata Foundation (Christian Mission Services), a non-government organization that operates with basic funding support from its partner organization Christlicher Missiondienst (CMD) headquartered in Germany, supplementary assistance from two Japanese organizations and a few local groups, with the help of Feed Hungry Inc. and the GMA Artist Center.
