Ramiele Macrowon Malubay (born September 6, 1987 in Saudi Arabia) is a Filipino American entertainer and a finalist on the seventh season of American Idol.
Born in Saudi Arabia, Malubay grew up in the Philippines and the United States and graduated from Zephyrhills High School in Zephyrhills, Florida. Malubay spent most of her early years in the Philippines, but currently resides in Miramar, Florida. She is currently a nursing student at Broward Community College. She started Polynesian Dancing when she was in the first grade and started singing at the age of twelve. She can speak fluent Tagalog & Ilocano. On YouTube, there is a video in which she sings the Philippine National Anthem, Lupang Hinirang.
Controversy
She was the subject of a minor controversy when a number of personal pictures came to light; one features Malubay's hand on a co-worker's breast, another other shows two of Malubay's friends touching her breasts. and more pictures are being surfaced on the internet.
American Idol
She successfully auditioned for American Idol in August, 2007 where she sang Aretha Franklin's "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman". She is currently in the Top 10, Her musical influences include Aretha Franklin, Mariah Carey and Jackson 5 and her favorite performer is Regine Velasquez
